Five benefits of Inner Leadership

In this time of change we need a new approach to leadership.

Achieving it requires us to develop seven new skills or competencies.

And this will bring us five levels of benefits:

— First, by applying each set of tools, we get to solve the problems we face: we learn to stay calm in crisis, see the situation more clearly, find more opportunities to move forward, and so on.

— Second, by applying the tools together, we become more inspirational leaders, not only of ourselves but also of other people.

— Third, as we repeat the process over time we become better at it. We not only respond to change better, we also learn to use each change to become stronger: we become antifragile.

And there are two more levels of benefit to come:

— Einstein told us that we cannot solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it. Almost all the problems we face are the direct result of leadership decisions taken in the past. It is those decisions that have created this world of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. If we want to create a less volatile world we need a new approach to leadership. And when multiple leaders start creating inspiration and antifragility, then together we will create a more stable, abundant, and (re)generative world. This is the fourth level of benefit.

— Finally, the fifth level of benefit is Joy. This is something we don’t often talk about in business but perhaps we should. Because your joy shows you where your purpose lies, and when you are working on something in line with your purpose you feel joy. By following the steps of Inner Leadership, people will create Joy for themselves and antifragile competitive advantage for their organisations.
