As leaders we know that complaining about a situation is a waste of time: it changes nothing.
So how do we choose whether to leave the situation, change the situation, or accept it?
The answer is that we need to get clear on who we are and who we want to become.
Once we know this then every ‘problem’ becomes an opportunity, either to:
- ignore the situation (and focus on something more important)
- leave the situation (and focus our energies on something that will lead us better towards who we want to become)
- fix the situation
- fix the situation and improve it over how it was before
- fix the situation and learn the skills that could have prevented it from happening in the first place
